The anonymous Christian
One of the most controversial ideas in the Catholic Church is the idea of the anonymous Christian. Some Catholics believe in the anonymous Christian whilst others don’t. Basically it is the idea that people in other religions who have never heard of Jesus however they believe fully in God and do their very best to please God and do their very best to follow their conscience to the best of their abilities are called anonymous Christians and can still make it to heaven even though they have never heard of Jesus. You must remember that God wants absolutely everyone to go to heaven. If someone does their very best to please God and completely follows their conscience however they have never heard of Jesus, this is not their fault. If you really think about it I’m sure very few people will believe that someone as described above will be doomed to hell. If you know that Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords however you still choose to turn away and follow other religions then this is a completely different matter. The sin is if you know that Jesus is real however you turn away. It is very important to note that Jesus is the only way to salvation. Anonymous Christians are still being saved by Jesus, even though they have never heard of Jesus. Jesus died for all people whether they have heard of him or not. I personally like the idea of the anonymous Christian because I want everyone to go to heaven however I know that it is a extremely controversial topic and if anyone doesn’t believe in it that is absolutely fine, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and Jesus loves everyone.
